Dufftown Highland Games
A Taste of something Scottish for Everyone!
Last Saturday every July.
RESULTS – 2008.

It was a dazzling day in Dufftown in more ways that one as clouds departed, the sun came out and a record crowd of over 4000 attended what Dufftown proudly claims is not the largest but, "Simply The Best", Highland Games in the North.

A total of 7 Pipe Bands thrilled the audience with the Heavy Athletes, true to form putting on great trials of skill and strength.

Nearly 100 Highland Dancers, Dufftown never being short, showed the colour, the gaiety, while Tug O’ War made up for anything that might have been lacking in the way of strength.

The Chieftain, Robin MacLennan, fully equipped, portrayed the magnificence

of clan dress and armour, while welcoming those from overseas.

Libby Lafferty, P.R.O. Willian Grant & Sons Dufftown, was presented with a special plaque to commemorate their part in the Games by promoting Grampian Game’s Heavy Events for the past 25years.

James Murray, recently retired Chairman for 35 years, was presented with a cut glass crystal bowl in appreciation for his work for Dufftown Games, Grampian Games, The Scottish Games Association, furthering such work in Russia.

A new field record record was set by Ian Garioch for the 200 metres, time 10.56
